Dehydrated Montmorency Red Tart Pitted Cherries
Tart Cherries date back to 300 BC. They are named for the ancient town of Cerasus in Turkey. Tart Cherries are known to contain many different flavonols, which improve the flow of blood, lower blood pressure, and are good for the heart and brain. Use: Dried fruits are very versatile. Use in baked goods, salads, sauces, stuffings, trail mixes, hot cereals, muffins, scones, fruit cakes and for homemade ice cream. Dried fruits may be eaten right out of the bag as a convenient and healthy snack. Mixed with granola and almonds or in a trail mix.
Preparation: There is no preparation needed for dried fruit. If used in baking, you may want to rehydrate. To rehydrate dried fruit, pour boiling water over the fruit and let sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain well before using.
Ingredients: red tart montmorency cherries, sugar, sunflower oil (not a significant source of fat) No preservatives or sulfites added. For best quality, store frozen or refrigerated.
