Candy Recipes

Rock Candy:

2 cups sugar

2/3 cup corn syrup - light            

3/4 cup water

1 teaspoon flavor

Liquid food coloring

Powdered Sugar

 

Prepare a cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil and powdered sugar

1:  In a large saucepan, add the sugar, corn syrup and water.  Stir until the sugar dissolves over medium heat.

2:  Bring to a boil and place candy thermometer in pan (do not let it touch the bottom of the pan).

3:  Remove from heat when you reach 300-310 degrees (hard crack), or until drops of syrup form a hard string.  Add flavor and a few drops of coloring, stir.

4:  Carefully pour the liquid onto the cookie sheet and allow to cool - do not refrigerate.

5:  When the candy is still a little warm you can cut with well oiled scissors/knife or you can let it cool completely and break into pieces.

6:  Store in an airtight container in a cool dry location - do not refrigerate.
